Every so often Mr M drops in, he’s becoming a regular in the Porterhouse. He has an eye for quality antique furniture and so it is always a pleasure to see what he’s brought us. A couple of months ago it was four beautiful balloon back dining chairs that he had picked up at auction. This week it’s a button-back Victorian reading chair.
Mr M has a fondness for Designers Guild fabrics and has chosen the Champ de Fleurs for the front and the contrasting Mansart for the back.
Before any of the beautiful top fabrics could go near the piece, the chair had to be stripped back, recycling as much of the original material as possible. In the case of this lovely little chair, it was a case of re-lashing the springs and teasing out the original hair to give the chair back its comfort and bounce.
